Update 04/29/24: George and Sons' terrible workmanship has caused flooding in my basement. They ran a waste line for a water heater underneath the basement floor instead of outside. This gradual leak went unnoticed until it was too late. Now, my new flooring has to be replaced. ________________________________________________ THE WORST GENERAL CONTRACTOR IN ESSEX COUNTY. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Their work is subpar, and they are dishonest. If you're looking for someone to nickel and dime your construction project, then I would go with these guys… I purchased a home built by George & Son. I strongly advise against choosing George & Sons for your home needs. A glance at their reviews reveals a shared sentiment among many customers. George & Son left numerous crucial aspects of home building incomplete. As you read the list below, be aware that this is supposed to be NEW CONSTRUCTION, and they claim to have over 25 years of experience: -No outlet or wiring was run to the Kitchen Island, rendering the designated microwave space useless. -No caulk in any of the bathroom tubs or sinks. -Water pools in the shower pan because the floor does not properly pitch to the drain. -The baseboard is uneven and does not meet the floor. -Improper installation of cabinets. -No bathroom trim was installed i guess that wasn't part of their budget It's baffling how even with 25 years of experience, they still overlook best practices.... Home renovation might not be their forte; perhaps they should stick to driveways and steps. I anticipate discovering more discrepancies and mistakes, and I will continue to update this review accordingly.
UPDATE RESPONSE TO OWNER *** I really have never seen a contractor do such bad work. To add on top of that they are dishonest and rude. Someone should take pride in the work they do- George and son will take your money and run off. How do you have a leak so bad that it penetrates basement flooring? Half of the basement is bubbling up and you can hear the water sloshing. Mind you, this is NEW construction. There should be NO issues. Upon trying to contact George and sons they told me “please don’t contact me” they take on projects that they have no experience or business doing. But this review is the first step , building departments , consumer affairs and township will be involved. I’d suggest George and sons reach out before things escalate to those levels. UPDATE BELOW AOF 4/28/24 These hackjob contractors and real estate agent are ridiculous. They ran the waste line to the domestic water heater to under the flooring. Since George and sons have no basic concept of building codes ( every gc really should) here’s a lesson- it’ll be for free too :) All mechanical and plumbing units producing waste shall be FILTERED and routed away from home. GEORGE AND SONS in their infinite intelligence routed the waste line to the domestic water heater underneath the click together flooring in the basement (see photos) Let me know if I should purchase you guys a copy of the IBC. Or maybe teach you how to manage your subs.
Update: the owners must not understand the concept of free speech. Also don’t forget to mention on your police report that you are leaving my personal information below.. BAD WORK! DISHONEST! DONT KNOW LEGAL BUILDING CODES! George and sons piped the waste line for the domestic water heater to under the flooring in the basement and their owners wife sold the home knowing this issue to us as new home buyers. They will also publicly list our address on google. We hired a REAL & HONEST plumber to fix this mistake who laughed at George and sons and their work. Save yourself time and money and find someone else.
PLEASE READ I have bought my house in WEST ORANGE for 10 YEARS. I had JOSE and GEORGE company fix my home since DAY ONE. They are loyal and hard working people, that I RESPECT. They deserve the Respect and HONOR. These comments are RIDICULOUS.
I had the misfortune of being behind one of there trucks today. He was dropping stones off the back of his truck which broke my windshield. I called the company only to be told that I am not the first one to try to “scam” the company for a free windshield. Shady owner. Beware of this company. If he acts like this about being responsible for his trucks I can’t imagine how he treats his customers.
